In my books leafy, green vegetables are the best anti-acne foods on the planet. Full of skin clearing nutrients and fiber to promote regular bowel movements.
But it’s sometimes difficult to get enough of them. Let’s face it, greens are not the first thing that pops into your mind when you are on the prowl for a snack.
The best way to eat greens is green smoothies, but it’s good to have some backup options also.
I found this great recipe that helps you to eat more greens. It’s called Laurel’s Easy Greens, and the credit goes to http://www.laurelonhealthfood.com blog.
- Add 2-3 tbsp. olive oil to a saute pan on medium heat.
- Chop up 2 large (or 3 small) garlic cloves and add to the pan.
- Allow the garlic to cook/soften for about 1 min. (do not burn).
- Add 3-4 big handfuls of chopped up greens to the pan with 1/2 cup water or vegetable stock.
- Cover with a lid and cook for 3-4 min.
- Remove the lid, stir, and cook for 1 min. to allow some liquid to evaporate.
- Season with salt and pepper.
I’m sure this would go nicely with rice.
Of course it’s better you eat most of your food raw, but for those who like to cook this is a good and a reasonably healthy option.

sounds like a great recipe.. just curious though.. why is exactly better to eat foods raw than when they are cooked and if you do like to eat cooked foods, does the food loose alot of its nutriet content or is it insignificant? thanks!

Depends on what you cook and how you cook it. Cooking vegetables with low heat, such as steaming, doesn’t result in a huge loss of nutrients. Some but nothing that would be a big issue if you also eat some raw foods.
The more heat you apply to a food the worse you make it. Cooking, and especially applying high heat, food changes the molecules in food. As a result the body doesn’t recognize all of them anymore and treats them as invaders. It can also make many foods harder to digest. Some foods get easier to digest by cooking but humans shouldn’t eat those foods anyway, such as grains.
