Researchers from ATM Metabolics discovered a chemical in fruits that protects people from diabetic effects of sugar. They call this chemical simulin.
Researchers found that simulin accelerates the removal of excess sugar from the bloodstream, increases the sensitivity of insulin receptors, reduces the amount of carbohydrates absorbed from the digestive track, and reduces the amount of glucose made by the liver. It also helped "[mobilize] carbohydrates from the fat cells."
Very interesting. And one more reason to put those baseless fruit phobias to rest.
Of course the food industry is busy abusing this new discovery. Soon you’ll find all kinds of junk foods fortified with simulin. Just so they could sell more of their sugary junk to consumers. At least some things don’t change.
Yet, I have a feeling they can’t shortcut nature and that nature will come and kick their butt at one point. I bet they’ll discover that simulin added to sugary junk won’t work so well.
I’ll stick to my fruits [smiling and gulping down a big jug of green smoothie].
