This time I decided to post a quinoa recipe.

You probably don’t want to eat raw foods all the time. So here’s a good recipe for those times that’s also reasonably healthy. Low in fat and avoids most acne triggers so it should be good for your skin also.

I found this recipe from allrecipes.com.

This takes about 20 minutes to prepare and 20 minutes to cook. So 40 minutes from box to plate.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups uncooked quinoa, rinsed
  • 1 cup canned lentils, rinsed
  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 quart vegetable broth
  • 1 bunch Swiss chard, stems removed

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in the onion and garlic, and saute 5 minutes, until onion is tender. Mix in quinoa, lentils, and mushrooms. Pour in the broth. Cover, and cook 20 minutes.
  2. Remove the pot from heat. Shred chard, and gently mix into the pot. Cover, and allow to sit 5 minutes, or until chard is wilted.

Since people keep requesting recipes quite often I’ll start posting them more often.

Here’s one good green smoothie recipe, again from

  • 2 mangoes
  • 2 pears
  • 2 big handfuls of mixed baby greens
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

Blend and enjoy.

Easy green recipe

In my books leafy, green vegetables are the best anti-acne foods on the planet. Full of skin clearing nutrients and fiber to promote regular bowel movements.

But it’s sometimes difficult to get enough of them. Let’s face it, greens are not the first thing that pops into your mind when you are on the prowl for a snack.

The best way to eat greens is green smoothies, but it’s good to have some backup options also.

I found this great recipe that helps you to eat more greens. It’s called Laurel’s Easy Greens, and the credit goes to http://www.laurelonhealthfood.com blog.

  • Add 2-3 tbsp. olive oil to a saute pan on medium heat.
  • Chop up 2 large (or 3 small) garlic cloves and add to the pan.
  • Allow the garlic to cook/soften for about 1 min. (do not burn).
  • Add 3-4 big handfuls of chopped up greens to the pan with 1/2 cup water or vegetable stock.
  • Cover with a lid and cook for 3-4 min.
  • Remove the lid, stir, and cook for 1 min. to allow some liquid to evaporate.
  • Season with salt and pepper.

I’m sure this would go nicely with rice.

Of course it’s better you eat most of your food raw, but for those who like to cook this is a good and a reasonably healthy option.
